Val-d'Oise private tour: why a car and a guide of your own help
The sights of the Val-d'Oise sit in small villages north of Paris, and the train gets you there with a change: line H from Paris-Nord to Auvers-sur-Oise via Valmondois, or line J or RER C to Pontoise and then line H. A Val-d'Oise private tour removes that change. A driver collects your party at the hotel, takes you to Auvers and brings you back, so the half day is spent at Van Gogh's last addresses rather than on platforms.
The timing of the town makes the pickup useful. Van Gogh's room at the Auberge Ravoux opens Wednesday to Sunday, from 4 March to 22 November 2026, with the last starts at 11:45 and 18:00. In winter the inn can only be seen from the outside, so a short private half day suits the shorter days.
Giverny lies in the Eure, in Normandy, not in the Val-d'Oise, which makes a Monet day a long outing across two départements. Prices below are from November 2026, and group prices are divided by the number of people.

Private Van Gogh tour in Auvers-sur-Oise
The four hour private tour begins with hotel pickup in Paris and uses private transport with a live guide. The route follows Van Gogh's last weeks in Auvers, and entries are included. The price is €420 per person, so a couple pays €840 and a party of four €1,680. Meals, drinks and tips are extra.
It suits a couple or two friends who want a guide at their side in Auvers rather than a self-guided walk. Our Van Gogh in Auvers guide covers the inn, the church and the graves that the day is built around.
Private Van Gogh and Monet day with a driver-guide
This ten hour day uses a private Mercedes V-Class for the whole time, with hotel pickup and return in Paris. The route covers Auvers, then Giverny with Monet's house and gardens. The driver-guide speaks Chinese, which matters if your party wants the day in that language. Entries are not included.
The price is €979 for the vehicle, for up to six people. A couple pays €489.50 each, four people €244.75 each and six €163.17 each. Because the total stays the same, the day makes most sense for a family or a group of friends who fill the car.
Private transfer to Parc Astérix
The park is in Plailly, in the Oise, about 35 km north of Paris, outside the Val-d'Oise. The private transfer takes 50 minutes, has one pickup point and one drop-off point, and includes the driver, meet and greet, an air-conditioned car, wifi and a child seat on request. Park tickets are not included.
It costs €130 for the car, for up to three people: €65 each for two, or €43.33 each for three. The park's own shuttle from Roissypôle costs €14 return per person, so three people pay €42 for that, but only from the airport. The private car is the simpler choice when you start in Paris. More on the park is on our Parc Astérix page.
Small-group tours: when sharing is the better choice
The small-group day to Giverny and Van Gogh's room in Auvers costs €220 per person for ten hours, starts at the Café des Dames on Avenue de Villiers and includes the entries to Monet's house and gardens, Van Gogh's room and both graves. For two people that is €440 against €979 for the private car, and the entries are already paid. Only when four or more people share the car does the private day come close, at €244.75 each before entries.
The bus trips are cheaper still. The full-day bus trip to Giverny and Auvers costs €119 per person and the half-day bus trip to Auvers €79. Both are self-guided. Our Val-d'Oise tours comparison sets them side by side.
